Staying peaceful in a hostile world.

There are so many things we could focus on to be reminded of darkness, negativity, and hostility. The inverse is also true. There are very few signposts to remind us of lightness, positivity and peacefulness.

My suggestion today is to go within. Whatever one practices,to go into it more deeply and with more passion than ever before. This world needs the meditators, yogis, and peaceful warriors more because the world's natural balance has been upset.
How has the imbalance been created? By wrong thinking, wrong actions. For blaming others, as a cop-out for taking responsibility for their own imbalances.

Go within. The riches of inner peace, joy, and equilibrium are waiting for you to greet them. It doesn't matter what the practice is. The intent to do no harm; to be kind, giving, and compassionate must be our mantra now and always. Not just to balance the world toppling over, but for our own inner peace and karmic destiny.

Begin today!

Autumn Sits

For Zen Mountain Monastery,
In loving memory of Daido.

Autumn sits:
I relate to nothingness
Water flows past my sight,
All heaven quakes.

The leaves turn
Musty smell, orange
Color. Crumbs of
Appendages, waver.

I walk and think
Of nothing, giving way
To something,
Thank starsoul.

Why do birds fly
Unflinching, un-
Questioningly, just fly?
Look up in grace,
Down in humbleness.

We reach for fortunes:
Becoming the riches,
Get sick;so try
To make sense of space.

Eyes closed, deepening,
Foraging, with not a wink.
Great doubt, so
Great awakening!

Machu Pichu

Stone walls:
Ancient hewn stones
Hold strength, shed joy.

Sunlight glints
And dances through spaces.
The breath between the voice.

Spaces inbetween stones,
The rest inside the song;
Appreciate the form
By knowing formlessness.

WE WAKE

We wake
Neath the same
Morning sky.

We rise
To the same
Hard wood floor.

We dance
To the same tune,
Neath the same moon.

We sing
In the same
Wordless whirling.

We fight
With the same slashes:
Relinquished, forgotten.

We let wild, make tame
In the same style,
The same sweet game.

The holy way
Of the Tao
Tells us why,

Common creations,
Creative exaltations
Are born, bred, and returned

To the earth,
Nourishing the soil,
Blossoms, beings grow

With the fair fertllity
Only Goddess knows.

We wake.

Solo Retreat

The retreat for inner peace was canceled, due to a lack of response. I am sure the busy quality of this holiday time contributed to noone signing up.
I decided upon waking up this morning to have a solo retreat.
This would be beneficial for two reasons. First, it would create the kind of quiet, vibrant, peaceful vibrations, the Center for Natural Healing stands for. Actually the full name for the center is, Tadasan, Center for Natural Healing.
Tadasan means mountain in sanskrit. The pose in yoga, is simply standing up, connecting to the earth below one's feet, and the sky above. It is deceptively more difficult than what it appears to be. I chose Tadasan to be apart of my center's name to resonate the spirit of groundedness and balance in this changing world.
The second reason for my solo retreat is to help balance and raise my energy fields, so I can both inspire and teach others from a place of greater sensitivity, receptivity and compassion. One teaches what one is;one is what one teaches.

This Saturday morning will be spent in solitude:meditation, gentle yoga, a quiet walk in nature, and playing my babygrand piano, with the intent to create more serenity within and without.

May peace, harmony and happiness be enjoyed by all!

Wind and Rain Continue

The intense northeasterly wind coupled with the heavy rain roused me from sleep around 5:30 this morning. I would have loved to have slept longer. My dreams were active and colorful. In one, I jumped from shore, to a moving ship, heading into the gentle waters of the Caribbean. What did I have with me, for this mysterious journey? My cellphone, pocketbook, with some loose change, a single water bottle,
half of a jarlberg sandwich, an apple. What was I going to do?
If I had stayed in dreamland longer, I would have confronted my dream demons, as the Senoi Indians do. From a very early age, children are raised to focus on their dreams. This must allow them a deeper understanding of their unconscious workings, and give them depth and wisdom in their daily waking life.
It is still dark, as I write this. Coffee, my morning friend is by my side. A nice stong organic Ethiopian brew. There is not a speck of a chance that I will return to the warmth and comfort of sleep and dreams. The day has begun. I welcome the next twelve hours. May I create and share, have time for quiet, reflection. Hopefully, this afternoon the rain will stop, and I will meet a friend, to walk in nature.

Have a wondrous day!

Full Moon

Full moon feels bursting
Flowing over with wonder, joy
I drink in her grace.

Full moon, sacred sage:
Illluminating old truths,
Letting them shine brand new.

Full moon, daring flight
As wings transport you from horizon
To sky high, we sigh in unison.

Full moon, simply the soul
Of shining sun, reminding us
As bright stars,we are all one.

Sunshiney Day!

This Tuesday morning woke up prior to sunrise. There was no visible sign that it was going to be clear. Presently, the sun has emerged. The sunshine glazes over the windows and the red brick of the building across the street. Since I do not have eastern or southern exposure, this becomes my "make believe" eastern view. Actually, I gaze out my western window in my galley kitchen. After the sun hits the building across the way, it then cascades sweetly back through my kitchen window, dances through my dining room, and paints lovely red, orange, yellow patterns on the eastern wall behind me.
This beautiful dance happens every day there is a clear sunrise. Each and every time it is a miracle. A time to pause, and look. To move a little slower, and appreciate the wonder of it. This spills into a broader appreciation for all of nature's elegant beauty.
I am grateful for these simple things. I am changed by stopping to notice. Thank you nature, for effortlessly filling me with gratitude. You are my humble teacher.

May nature's beauty give us all an opportunity, to pause, wait, and appreciate the lovely little things, that add up to her vastness:her unstoppable radiance!
